Presidents weekend was busy in Tinseltown with one celeb-studded event after another, and we were happy to catch a glimpse of more than a few watches in the process. Check out Hip-Hop artist Flo Rida (in nerd glasses!), Atlanta Falcons tight end Tony Gonzalez, international soccer superstar David Beckham, and fashion designer (and former MTV reality star) Whitney Port- all rocking some high-end wrist-wear:
We love the look of a man’s watch on a woman, and if there’s anything we’ve learned in our months of celeb-stalking, it’s that Hollywood agrees. It’s been a hot look for a while now, and, as the following feature (see below) from the September Issue (only the most important issue in the fashion magazine universe) of InStyle illustrates, the oversized watch trend is far from being just a fad.
Check out some of eRelyx’s favorite leading ladies working it in some large watches-
The favorite oversized watches of the celebs above? Anything by Rolex- including the Rolex Datejust, President, Daytona & Submariner and, from Cartier, the largest size of the popular Ballon Bleu model.
It was a big week at the eRelyx HQ for celebrity watch sightings- we were blinded by bling at last night’s Billboard Music Awards (Trey Songz, LL Cool J, 50 cent, Randy Jackson, to name a few) and excited by some of our favorite young stars out and about in luxury timepieces from the likes of Cartier (Joe Jonas) and Rolex (Minka Kelly, Whitney Port).

From Jessica Biel’s be-loved blue Hublot highlighted in March’s “I Really Love My…” section of People Style Watch, to Bradley Cooper’s Dior Homme watch featured in a fashion spread with co-star Abbie Cornish for April’s Marie Claire– These are the week’s Celebrity Watch Sightings…
(L-R: Bradley Cooper- Dior; Rob Kardashian- unknown (if you can ID Rob’s watch- let us know!); Holly Madison- Gucci; Jessica Alba- Rolex; Mark McGrath (of Sugar Ray)- Rolex Submariner (interesting fact: McGrath loves his Rolex Submariner so much he even has the brand’s logo tattooed across his abdomen); Minka Kelly- Rolex Datejust; Jessica Biel- Hublot; Kevin McHale (of Glee)- unsure, possibly a swatch?; Mario Lopez- Panerai; Nicky Hilton- Rolex; Whitney Port- Rolex Datejust; Olivia Palermo- Vintage)

A few weeks ago I blogged about a troubling trend – young female celebrities are leaving their watches at home when they hit the red carpet. At the time of writing, part of me worried that young female celebs no longer thought luxury watches were cool.
Thank goodness I was wrong.
Young reality star Whitney Port (The Hills and The City) showed up at Las Vegas Sugar Factory event wearing a Rolex Datejust watch. Not a surprising choice – her style always struck me as being classic and conservative – just like the Rolex Datejust.
Hopefully we’ll start seeing more young stars showing off their watches.

As I was looking at the red carpet pictures from this weekend’s MuchMusic Video Awards, four things came to mind:
1. Today’s young female celebrities don’t like wearing luxury watches when they hit the red carpet
I don’t really get why they aren’t wearing watches. Maybe they want onlookers to focus on their dresses and not their accessories. I get that. But some of them are wearing bracelets. If you’re going to wear a bracelet, you might as well wear a watch. Because a watch is just like a bracelet except it also tells time. So it really renders the bracelet useless. It’s kind of like comparing an iPhone (watch) to an iPod Touch (bracelet). If you’ve got an iPhone, why would you ever carry around the iPod Touch? Okay, so my logic isn’t perfect. BUT, I would like to see today’s young stars wearing more watches. Check out Whitney Port (The City), Jessica Szohr (Gossip Girl), Kristin Cavallari (The Hills), Ashley Greene (Twilight), Shenae Grimes (90210).
2. The cast of Jersey Shore is still being invited to big events
Okay. 15 minutes passed. And then Jersey Shore 2 was announced. Another 15 minutes. Haven’t THOSE 15 minutes passed too? I mean, they’ve been around for more than 30 minutes by now. The good news is that Pauly D wears a huge, fancy watch – so at least he spent his money wisely. Anyway – more power to those guys. Soak it up.
3. Katy Perry and Ke$ha are in an all out war for attention
I’ll admit it. I like both of them. Well, I like their music (they get some play on my ipod). And Katy Perry seems pretty cool. I don’t know enough about Ke$ha to form an opinion. What I do know is that these two ladies, along with Lady Gaga, are in an all-out battle for attention. From what I can tell, they’re all getting their fair share…for different reasons. The only problem is that they’re not wearing watches – like anyone would even notice. Do you agree? Check it out:
4. It’s time that everyone takes a page out of Will Shadley’s red carpet playbook. Check out that Curtis & Co. watch. That’s how it’s done!
