What was a surprise was Cartier’s explanation of why the line is doing so well. I understand that he’s the boss and has access to plenty of consumer research, but I disagree with him. The Ballon Bleu is doing well for two main reasons:
1. It looks amazing.
2. Celebrities are wearing it, giving it more exposure.
If his explanation is true, why did Rolex recently start making larger Datejust models? And why is Audemars Piguet doing so well?

I’ll say it again. Cartier Ballon Bleu is one of the hottest watches on the market – for both men and women. For rough and tumble. For prim and proper. Try to find pre-owned models on the market. It’s tough – partly because it’s a relatively new model. Partly because they are so popular.
Here’s another example of a celeb wearing the watch – it’s none other than Johnny Depp. Okay, so it’s tough to tell if that’s actually a Ballon Bleu, but it certainly looks like it. Check him out.
