No Golden Globe? No Problem.

Tuesday, January 18th, 2011

Our loyal blog-readers will know that eRelyx has a love affair with the lovely Sofia Vergara aka Gloria from the ABC stand-out comedy series Modern Family, who was unfairly robbed of a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series. Sofia, if you’re reading this, you’d get our vote for the eRelyx “Best Watch-Wearing Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series” Golden Globe.

The Golden Globes this Sunday marks the beginning of Awards season- which is like a second Christmas for the celebrity & fashion-obsessed (yes, I am referring to myself) viewer. And, it means we will be on extra-high-alert to see what’s on the wrists of our favorite Hollywood stars and starlets

While she may have gone watch-less at the weekends’ award ceremonies (grrr- why Sofia, why!?)… we cant argue that she looked pretty amazing. We forgave her anyway as soon as we uncovered these images of her during a weekend shopping trip in Beverly Hills, with, none other than her old standby, the classic gold Cartier Ballon Bleu.

Fiddy’s Back

Friday, January 7th, 2011

We’re bringing “Fiddy” back!

The most popular eRelyx blog of all time was our August entry about rapper 50 cent and his Hublot Big Bang. Click Here to check out 50′s Big Bang.

We found this “eRelyx triple threat” looking sharp in a suit and blinged-out watch at a recent press appearance. And so, we’re bringing back a contemporary watch-fan-favorite- 50 cent for your viewing pleasure. And bonus points (free hat?!?) to anyone who can accurately ID fiddy’s ice pictured first in the series below.

WYWSAY: Panerai

Wednesday, December 22nd, 2010

What Your Watch Says About You: Part IV

Panerai Luminor Marina

-Celebrities: We vote Adrien Grenier and David Beckham as the ideal picks for Panerai men. They aren’t your standard classic Hollywood pretty-boys-next-door. They both appreciate the finer things in life, gravitating towards a tailored, chic look while maintaining a little bit of edge and intrigue. They are the essence of an expensive, sleek, contemporary and stand-out watch like Panerai. Oh, and did i mention? The three together pretty much define the word HOT.

-Outerwear: A leather motorcycle jacket from the prestigious and established European brand, Belstaff. Reputable, expensive, but slightly under-the-radar, makes Belstaff, like Panerai, a hot contemporary luxury brand thats favored by a sleek, hip, younger crowd.

-Designer: John Varvatos captures the essence of Panerai in his apparel, beauty and shoe design. Varvatos makes his name by infusing the luxury, upscale, menswear market with a little rock & roll edge. The tailored-but-messy, lower-east-side meets madison avenue, is a unique approach to fashion that is youthful, cool and reflective of a Panerai Luminor.

-Vacation Destination: Prague is the choice spot for the Panerai hipster. Slightly off the beaten path, Bohemia is all the rage in tourism these days. History, culture and vibrant nightlife make this Eastern Europe the ideal spot for a Panerai guy’s getaway.

-Car: Range Rover Sport in black or silver, with all the upgrades. Naturally.

-Gadgets: He was the first to get on board with the iPad. The Panerai guy loves to be on the cutting edge of fashion and technology, always having to have the latest, coolest toys.

-Music: A little alternative, but always excellent, quality artists. Vampire Weekend and the latest album from Kid Cudi are on his current “most played” list.

-Favorite Store: Barneys New York. Here he can find all his favorite upscale designer brands. Its contemporary luxury without being stuffy.

So, are you a Panerai?

If you said yes, you are a little alternative, hip, cool, sleek, edgy, young, trendy, contemporary, and have excellent taste.

Convinced this is the watch for you? Check out our impressive collection of Panerais on eRelyx by visiting our site- www.eRelyx.com, or clicking the pictures below! These are just a few examples of our extensive Panerai inventory!

Splurge vs. Save

Monday, December 20th, 2010

Bell & Ross BR-0392 – $2,190 vs. Panerai Luminor – $4,950

The Panerai Luminor vs. The Bell & Ross BR-0392

We chose the Panerai Luminor to pair with our newest addition to the eRelyx inventory, a Bell & Ross BR-0392 for today’s edition of Splurge vs. Save.

The Splurge being our Panerai- became the official watch of the Royal Italian Navy in the 1930s and is known for its large very rounded face. Our save- the Bell & Ross- differs slightly from the Panerai as the watch of sky, rather than sea- the official timekeeper of the Air Force- and notable for its distinct, large, square face. Regardless, both brands share a sporty, oversized style and black and silver color scheme that make them truly cutting edge. This is a watch for the style savvy guy who wants to make a statement, and stand out in a sea of Rolexes.

What Your Watch Says About You: Cartier Tank

Thursday, December 16th, 2010

Welcome to “Part One” of our latest Blog series What Your Watch Says About You-

The Cartier Tank Watch.

- Celebrities: Jackie O was the original “Cartier Tank” woman. Today, we associate celebrities like Reese Witherspoon, Anne Hathaway, and Jen Aniston with the Tank watch. The quintessential woman-next-door, these celebs are loved by men and women of all ages. They are at once classically beautiful and traditional. They know what works for them in fashion and beauty and stick with it, earning them their spots on magazines’ “best dressed” lists year after year. Even though we know Jen is often seen wearing her gold oversized Rolex, her sophisticated, clean and elegant style fit to what the Cartier woman embodies.

- Outerwear: Burberry trench coat. The Burberry trench, like a Cartier Tank, is an absolute wardrobe essential for the classic woman.

- Shoes: A pair of classic Jimmy Choo black pumps and Chanel ballet flats. The woman who wears a Cartier Tank believes in luxury investment pieces- Chic black heels and practical Chanel flats are the only shoes she’ll ever need and will never go out of style.

- Sunnies: An oversized pair of black shades from Chloe or Oliver Peoples. Just like Jackie would wear.

- Handbag: We equate the Cartier Tank with a Hermes Birkin bag. Its sophisticated, elegant, high-class without being flashy. Like the Tank, the Birkin is the “one” bag every woman aspires to own and may be the only purse she ever needs. The Birkin’s design- understated, clean, squared-off lines- even mimic the physicality of a Cartier Tank.

- Vacation Destination: The Cartier Tank woman summers in the Hamptons, likely East Hampton, as it is the more established side of the island. While Paris would be an obvious vacation destination for a Cartier Tank lady, she enjoys the accessibility of the Hamptons, and being a part of this quintessentially chic summer scene.

- Reading Material: the current NYTimes best-seller, Vanity Fair and her much beloved copy of Great Gatsby.

- Cocktail: A cool Gin and Tonic with fresh lime. The drink is clean, crisp, fresh and sophisticated, just like the Cartier Tank.

So, are you a Cartier Tank?

If the answer is Yes, you are chic, understated, classic, beautiful and versatile. The Cartier is a timeless symbol of elegance and sophistication.

The “Investment Gift”: When a ‘Shake Weight’ just won’t cut it.

Monday, November 22nd, 2010

I am addicted to fashion magazines. Compulsively, obsessively addicted to fashion magazines. And there is no issue I prefer to the December holiday issue inevitably put out by every major woman’s mag in the market. There is nothing that plays to my imagination more than pages upon pages of glitter, sequins, color, glamour and the sheer excess that are neatly packaged for my consumption across elaborate holiday features and fashion spreads. There is no better way to get me excited about my holiday shopping.

There is something about a magazine’s holiday issue that feels so luxe, so…indulgent. This year in particular, I’ve noticed a trend in editorial promoting what i like to call the “investment gift.” The gift that will forever stay a classic, that will last through years of wear and trends, that will appreciate in value, and is something he/she will always remember as being that little bit extra special.

The “investment” gift of 2010? A watch. As predicted, (see our blog on the wristwatch’s comeback), wristwatches are a hot commodity again and this holiday’s go-to for those looking to give a gift that will stand the test of time (pun intended).

Highlighted in the December issue of People StyleWatch are their picks for the 10 Best Watches! – The spread focuses namely on trendy watches from some more mainstream fashion brands and keeps with the magazine’s overall premise of highlighting trends for fashionistas in every price range. What stood out in this article was the inclusion of a Cartier Tank Watch (retails new for around $4000) among the likes of lesser priced fashion watches from Seiko, Timex, Michael Kors and Marc Jacobs. The Cartier stands out as an “investment gift”, a truly timeless and iconic piece of jewelry that will be forever fashionable. Worn by everyone from Jackie O to Princess Di to Angelina Jolie, this watch is a classic statement of chic.

We also noticed watches were highlighted in the December issue of ELLE’s Gift Guide. The watches appear on the page noted “to keep forever.” The assortment of six varied styles includes brands like Cartier, Audemars Piguet and Chopard- ranging in price from $725-$5000. But if you account for the luxury watch as a gift to “keep forever,” as Elle suggests, the cost is marginal- thats the nature of an “investment gift”- quality over quantity.

If you agree with Elle & People StyleWatch then this is the year to get your loved one the gift that keeps on giving- and if you want the best deal on that investment, then eRelyx should be your go-to for holiday shopping. Click on the pictures below to be taken to just a few of the incredible deals on “investment gift”-worthy watches in our inventory!

Sneak Peak: Behind the Scenes at the eRelyx Photo-shoot

Monday, October 18th, 2010

Expensive watches, pretty models and puppies. What could be better?

This Saturday eRelyx shot its very first ad campaign at various locations through out Boston. Our first destination? The North End Park overlooking the Navy Yard and Charlestown, where we met the new star of eRelyx.com- Dakota. This charming 3-month-old beagle was loving the camera and there was no way he was letting an expensive watch (or our gorgeous- human- model, Mal) outshine him!

Despite Dakota’s penchant for chasing after leaves and the challenges posed by a very windy Boston shoreline, our shoot was a great success. Keep an eye out for the campaign when it runs after the site launches.

In the meantime, wet your appetite with some adorable behind-the-scenes footage of what happened when eRelyx brought all of “man’s best friends” together for one awesome photo shoot.

Monday Mailbag: June 21, 2010

Monday, June 21st, 2010

Dear readers-

I apologize for being so slow to respond to your blog comments.  Things have been very busy over here at the eRelyx headquarters.  The good news is that the eRelyx brand continues to gain recognition.  People all over the world (France, Chile, etc.) love reading our blog about pre-owned luxury watches, entrepreneurship, and celebrities.  And apparently we’re all over the radio waves.  Fantastic.

I wasn’t able to respond to all of your (unedited) comments, but I did have time to address a few.  Please read on.

Comment 1: I like your post. Your blog is fantastic.

Response 1: Thanks Mom.  I appreciate your support…as always.

Comment 2: How many bears does it take to screw in a lightbulb?

Response 2: I love jokes.  Do tell!  Wait.  What kind of bears are you talking about?  That has to make a difference, right?  Anyone?

Comment 3: Will a bigger stag hang out with a smaller one during the roar and get the smaller one to go out first to investigate any intruders/ other roars?

Response 3: Wait.  Does this have something to do with the bear joke?  I’m confused.

Comment 4: Boy, that is some high-class web site

Response 4: Thanks.  Although it’s becoming a venue for readers to test out their bear jokes.

Comment 5: Your reviews are pretty informed and valuable. Have you considered writing professionally? Like a periodical or anything?

Response 5: Haha.  Very funny.  Okay people.  Enough with the jokes.

Comment 6: Merci pour votre article très intéressant

Response 6: De rien. Did that make any sense?  Do we have anyone French speakers out there?  I’m pretty sure the reader was thanking me for my very interesting article.  But those of you who know me know that French was my worst subject in high school.

Comment 7: Terrific work! This is the type of information that should be shared around the web. Shame on the search engines for not positioning this post higher!

Response 7: Seriously.  Right?  Apparently I’m all over Google France…so that’s good (tres bien, I think)

Comment 8: I am prepared to suspend my disbelief to take pleasure in a very good show

Response 8: I hope you’ve got plenty of time on your hands.

Comment 9: Which creature inside the morning goes on 4 legs, at mid-day on two, and inside the evening upon 3, and the greater legs it has, the weaker it be?

Response 9: Here we go again.  I don’t know.  Just tell me the answer.  A guy recovering from a hangover who eventually rallies to go out to a club with attractive patrons?

Comment 10: Good post and this fill someone in on helped me alot in my college assignement. Say thank you you as your information.

Response 10: Ummmm.  Good luck in college.  Let me guess – you’re not an English major.

Comment 11: Howdy, your site is on air in the radio! Good job mate. Your posts are truly great and bookmarked. Regards

Response 11: eRelyx has landed.  Before you know it, we’ll be the largest marketplace for authentic pre-owned luxury watches.  Look out world!

Comment 12: Hey quite decent blog!!?! Man .. Attractive .. Wonderful .. I will bookmark your weblog and take the feeds also…

Response 12: Wait.  What’s attractive?  The blog?  Or are you talking about me? The only reason is because at one point in my life I tried to model.  Turns out I wasn’t good looking enough.  But, your words have given me hope.  If eRelyx doesn’t pan out, I may give the modeling thing a run again.

Comment 13: In case you have to try and do it, you may at the same time take action appropriate

Response 13: How did you know I was thinking about modeling again?  It literally entered my mind as a possibility five minutes ago.  And if by “action” you mean “plastic surgery” you can forget about it. (I’m an entrepreneur – I don’t have that kind of money).
