What We’re Watching: Modern Family

Its hard for me to accept that the end of summer is actually here. Even with labor day just around the corner, I remain in denial about the prospect of retiring my shorts and flip-flops in favor of fall’s sweaters and boots. Easing the difficult transition back into shorter days, and cooler nights? Modern Family’s return to TV on September 21st. My Wednesday nights just haven’t been the same with out our little dose of pure, unadulterated television bliss.

At eRelyx, our favorite couple to watch from the show is definitely Jay & Gloria- Both Ed O’Neill & Sofia Vergara are watch lovers in their every day lives and Jay & Gloria also wear some hot watches. Every week, we get a nerdy thrill at trying to ID what brands their characters are wearing. Oh, and also, Sofia Vergara is just ridiculously good-looking. But really, its the watch thing. We swear.

Keeping Up With the Kardashian’s Watches

Given that eRelyx HQ is on the East Coast, we spent a lot of time indoors ducking Irene this past weekend. We did some cooking, some cleaning, and some Keeping Up with the Kardashians. Fortunately, it’s pretty easy to keep up since E! plays each episode about 96 times.

The Kardashians might be the first family of watches. Rolex, Cartier, Audemars Piguet. The brands are on the screen every 30 seconds. Normally it’s Scott Disick, Kourtney Kardashian, Kris Jenner, or Rob Kardashian. This time, it was Kim – rocking a gold Rolex President and a gold Audemars Piguet (one with a complication). Check out the images below. BTW – what are the odds that Bruce Jenner wears a Timex Ironman? That’s what an Olympic athlete wears, right?

US Open Tennis- Who’s Your Watch Champion?

When it comes to US Open tennis, we’ve grown accustomed to watching famous rivals Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal duke it out for the title of Champion. But this year there’s a new top seed in town- and his name is Novak Djokovic. With wins at the Australian Open & Wimbledon already under his belt, the Serbian superstar enters Monday’s tournament as “the man to beat.”

But, this isn’t a tennis blog.

So, say we were to put those technical playing skills aside- Who would be your pick to win the US Open championship of watches? Nadal’s $525,000 custom Richard Mille watch, Federer’s Rolex (of which he has several different models- “a crown for every acheivement”), or Djokovic’s…uhh…sweatbands??

We love the look of a man’s watch on a woman, and if there’s anything we’ve learned in our months of celeb-stalking, it’s that Hollywood agrees. It’s been a hot look for a while now, and, as the following feature (see below) from the September Issue (only the most important issue in the fashion magazine universe) of InStyle illustrates, the oversized watch trend is far from being just a fad.

Box & Papers: Necessity or Nuisance?

“Are original Box & Papers included?”

When buying pre-owned, many customers are concerned with having the original Box & Papers. Some are collectors who want to have all the accoutrement & full set for the watch. Some want the extra elements for investment purposes, as having the Box & Papers can help to fetch a higher price at resale.

Meanwhile, there are other customers who couldn’t care less about Box & Papers. They just want the watch, and are happy to save the extra dollars by buying a pre-owned watch without them. Some even find the extra accessories to be a nuisance, serving only to add more clutter to small closet spaces and the like.

Patek Philippe Extract From the Archives

Are you considering buying a pre-owned Patek Philippe without paperwork (certificate of authenticity)? Do you own a Patek Philippe for which you misplaced the paperwork?

All is not lost. Patek Philippe allows you to request an “Extract from the Archives.” All you need to do is fill out an online form with a few watch details and send them 100 Swiss Francs. After 4-8 weeks, they will send you a document indicating when your watch was made, when it was sold, and a few other details specific to the watch. While they tell you that it’s not meant as a certificate of authenticity, Patek Philippe will not send you an Extract if the watch details that you submitted don’t match up.

Behind the Scenes of an eRelyx Photoshoot

Saturday August 6 eRelyx had its 5th big photoshoot at Tico Restaurant in the Back Bay neighborhood of Boston MA. The latest restaurant venture from chef Michael Schlow, Tico’s incredible space and luxe, latin vibe provided the ideal backdrop to our shoot. We cant say thank you enough to the amazing staff there who were above and beyond wonderful to us. We have to encourage any one in the Boston area to try this one out- Amazing food & sangria to die for (seriously, the best we’ve had in Boston. ever. period.)

Our phenomonal eRelyx model, Krista, returned for the shoot accompanied by (another!) Max- to create pre-owned watch magic! The real stars of the shoot, however (sorry Krista/Max), were the watches which included some of our personal collection and several currently for sale on eRelyx.com- from Rolex, to Panerai, and IWC for Max and Cartier and Tag Heuer for Krista. It was a highly successful Saturday morning for the eRelyx team and we’re excited about the photos! Keep your eyes out for our future advertisements!
