US Weekly Noticed Halle’s Watch Too

Just yesterday I blogged about Halle Berry’s hip, inexpensive watch.  I told readers that if they wanted to mimic Halle’s look they could pick up a Suunto Core aluminum watch for about $400.

Well, I have some good news – replicating Halle’s look is less expensive than I originally thought.  According to the latest edition of US Weekly, the watch that Halle is wearing is a $125 Kenneth Cole rubber strap watch.

Apparently it uses touch-sensor technology to show time in 32 cities across the world.  US Weekly also reports that the same watch is owned by Ashlee Simpson-Wentz and Fergie.

Time Stands Still for Halle Berry

Halle Berry has a lot going for her. First, she has an impossibly cute daughter – I mean, seriously. Second, she’s a successful actress with a nice little bank account (I’m guessing). Third, she’s got a pretty attractive guy in her life. Fourth, she seems to make time stand still. She’s about to turn 44! Are you kidding me?? If she wasn’t Halle Berry, she’d probably still get carded at the liquor store.

And speaking of time, she rolls around town in a pretty cool watch. Check out her watch, her daughter, and her boyfriend in the pics below.

Arnold Wears a Russian Diver’s Watch

Arnold Schwarzenegger spent some time yesterday touring the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum.  Apparently he made the trip to sign a bill that designates February 6th as Ronald Reagan Day.

While he was at the museum, Arnold spent some time checking out a special exhibit showcasing famous motorcycles – of course he had to spend some time posing for pics with his 1991 Indian motorcycle from Terminator.

And speaking of big pieces of machinery, check out Arnold’s watch – it’s a Zlatoust diver’s watch worn by the Russian military.  The watch is absolutely massive at 58mm – not including the huge canteen crown.  It’s hard to get good pricing info on these watches, but they appear to be priced south of $500.

UFC Stars Know What Time It Is

All of my friends know that I’m a huge fan of the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship). Sure, Dana White and his business partners are getting a bit greedy by filling the calendar with fluffy PPV events, but I love it nonetheless.

It’s fast-paced, exciting, nerve-racking, and pure.  And one more thing – the biggest UFC stars wear luxury watches.  Most of the guys wear custom diamond-encrusted pieces created by the likes of Jacob & Co and Curtis & Co.  However, it looks like UFC Hall of Famer Randy “The Natural” Couture prefers simpler watches.  It’s tough to tell, but it looks like he’s wearing a Tag Heuer Link.  I thought that Chuck “The Iceman” Liddell might prefer simpler watches as well, but then I found a picture of him wearing a huge, iced-out wristclock. Makes sense – he is “The Iceman”.

Todd English Has Good Taste…in Watches

Cooking shows are all the rage these days.  The Julia Child / Rachel Ray “How To” shows have been around for ages – but competition style cooking shows like Iron Chef, Hell’s Kitchen, and Top Chef have exploded onto the scene in the past few years.  As a result, chefs have become rock stars.  One of Boston’s rock star chefs is Todd English.  English is the man behind Fig’s, Olives, Kingfish Hall, and Bonfire (to name a few).  With a portfolio of so many successful restaurants, it’s obvious that the man has good taste.

Need more proof?  Check out the watch he’s wearing in the following photo:

English is wearing a Panerai watch – one of the hottest brands on the market these days.  It looks like he’s wearing a Luminor 1950 or Luminor Marina.  Ladies – what’s not to love – he can cook and he wears a hot watch.  Jackpot.

Terry Crews – Watch Lover

That Terry Crews is so hot right now.

Don’t know who he is?  Turn on a TV and tune into a show targeted at 18-40 year old males.  Wait for the commercials.  At some point you’ll see Terry pitching Old Spice deodorant.  ”Block.  Block.  Block.  Ba…Ba…Ba…Block.”  That’s him.

Crews is also a TV and movie star.  You might remember him from the television show “Everybody Hate Chris.”  Or perhaps movies like “The Gamer”, “Terminator Salvation”, or “Get Smart”.  His most recent role was in “The Expendables” with Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, Eric Roberts, Randy Couture, Mickey Rourke, Steve Austin, Jet Li, and a Partridge in a Pear Tree.

If you’ve seen the promotional photos from his latest movie, you immediately notice two things about Terry – 1. He could kick your ass, and 2. He loves watches.  Check out the gold Bell & Ross watch he has been wearing recently.

I did some digging and it became clear that he has loved luxury watches for a number of years.  Here are some older photos of Terry wearing a stainless steel Bell & Ross and a gold Tag Heuer Link.

I definitely think that Bell & Ross is a good choice for Terry.  My loyal blog readers know that I love the brand – I paid tribute to the BR01-92 Phantom in a recent post.  Plus, most other watches would look microscopic on his He-Man arms.

Whitney Port Rocks a Rolex

A few weeks ago I blogged about a troubling trend – young female celebrities are leaving their watches at home when they hit the red carpet.  At the time of writing, part of me worried that young female celebs no longer thought luxury watches were cool.

Thank goodness I was wrong.

Young reality star Whitney Port (The Hills and The City) showed up at Las Vegas Sugar Factory event wearing a Rolex Datejust watch.  Not a surprising choice – her style always struck me as being classic and conservative – just like the Rolex Datejust.

Hopefully we’ll start seeing more young stars showing off their watches.

You Get What You Pay For

We live in a society where labels matter.  Right or wrong, individuals are judged based on the brand of car that they drive…the brand of clothing, shoes, and watch that they wear.

I doubt that many of you will disagree with that assertion, but there are (at least) three pieces of evidence that prove the point.

  1. Kids have been killed by other kids for the purpose of stealing sneakers – Nike Air Jordans.
  2. Many brands have enlarged the logos on their products at the expense of aesthetics.
  3. The counterfeit market for exclusive luxury brands continue to boom.

20/20 recently did a piece on the exploding market for counterfeit women’s shoes (Christian Louboutin, YSL, etc).  Online retailers of the knock-off shoes guaranteed the authenticity of their products and offered money-back guarantees.  They even had website names like “AuthenticLouboutins.com”.  Yet, when the shoes showed up and were assessed by experts, they were clearly fake.  Check out the 7-minute video here.

The luxury watch market suffers from the same counterfeit issues.  A few months ago I blogged about millions of dollars worth of counterfeit Rolex watches being confiscated and destroyed by Philadelphia police.   That was likely the tip of the tip of the iceberg.

Why do these counterfeiters thrive?  Because people have a strong desire to own branded luxury products – yet not everyone can afford them.  People pass on paying full price at Saks or Tourneau and head to the Internet in search of deals.  And sure, they find great prices…but what they often get in return for their money is a cheap, counterfeit version of what they’re really after.

So what’s a consumer to do?  Well, certainly proceed with caution if any deal seems too good to be true.  It probably is.  Do you trust the online retailer?  Read the following blog to see if they’ve done enough to earn your trust: Developing Trust.

Also, why not consider pre-owned?  Buying pre-owned is a great way to acquire luxury products at a discount.  Worried about condition?  You may not have to.  The women I know treat their $500+ shoes like members of the family.  Pre-owned watches remain in great condition or can be restored to almost new condition.  Your products may not be new – but at least they’re real.

Watch of the Day – Bell & Ross BR01-92 Phantom

As most of you know by now, everyone over at eRelyx loves bold, statement-making watches.  Few watches garner as many second-glances as the Bell & Ross BR01-92 Phantom.  At 46mm with a black, carbon powder finish, it’s big, edgy, and menacing.  I don’t have exact pricing on this model, but it’s probably somewhere in the $5,000-range. Interested in picking one up?  Give the folks at Royal Jewelers a call – they carry Bell & Ross along with several other great brands.  Hurry – this one is limited to 500 pieces.

Tom Cruise Responds to Zac Efron

If you’ve been keeping up with the eRelyx blog, you know that recent posts have been devoted to the amazing luxury watches of today’s hottest male superstars.  Bieber. Lautner.  Timberlake.  Cruise.  Efron.

You also know that Zac Efron was slightly upset* that I originally left him out of the mix.  I didn’t really have a choice – I didn’t have any pictures in which he was wearing a watch.  Not wanting to upset Zac, I decided to bend the rules and blog about his great taste in “arm accessories**” – Vanessa Hudgens.

In an interesting turn of events, Tom Cruise called* eRelyx and said*, “Tell Efron that two can play at that game. Two arms, two accessories.”  And then he sent* me this photo of him with Cameron Diaz*** from the UK premier of Knight and Day:

Well played, Cruise.  Your move, Efron.  Your move.
